Carol Schram: Canucks come up short in Edmonton, Quinn Hughes' NCAA playoffs begin Friday With the Vancouver Canucks' top scorers struggling to score, the team dropped a 3-2 decision to Edmonton on Thursday. Friday night, Quinn Hughes' best-of-three playoff begins as Michigan faces off against Minnesota. In the AHL, the Utica Comets take on the Syracuse Crunch.

Thanks Carol.

The Canucks were never going to make the playoffs because I can't remember the last time they strung wins together.

I was yelling at my TV in frustration as Derrick Pouliot and Alex Biega circled around their own zone as the final seconds ticked away, wondering why they were on the ice. But of course Travis Green was pretty much alternating them with the Edler-Stecher pairing as he tried to generate that tying goal; Ashton Sautner played just three shifts in the third periiod and Luke Schenn played four.

This is a lot of the hate TG gets is his use of players in game. I was a bit annoyed that Horvat played so much against Richardson after Richardson continued to lit him up.

Thanks Carol. It seems with all the talk of the Oil needing a new gm and coach, Van may be in the same boat. I dont know if I can handle JB resigning Pouliot, or messing up the Boeser contract. Greens loyalty to underserving players and his constant need to change lines, thus eliminating chemistry, is equally frustrating. Hunter and Krueger?

It’s not rocket science mini. The Canucks were trailing so they used their most offensive defensemen to try and generate offence. Poliot is garbage but he can produce. Perhaps we should get you a stack of phone books to stand on and you can be the coach next season

Green's deployment of players is ridiculous. The guy is addicted to Pouliot. That skating mistake needs to be waived and sent to Utica.

Hopefully Benning isn't around to give him an extension, because knowing Jim, he'd be apt to extending DP for his offensive potential.

I thought demko had a good game, not much he could do on the goals. There was a lot of open ice in this one my goodness.

No chance Pouliot is back slappy. It’s Hughes time.

Every coach has favorites. Green will get past it.

On that point, I do hope that Benning is cognizant of not playing Hughes over the nine game threshold, thereby potentially exposing him to the Seattle expansion draft. Knowing Jim, I fear that Benning might miss that detail, and stuff.

I kind of like a merit based approach... like giving preference to players who dont give the puck away every second shift.

i imagine Pouliots last games in the NHL are however many it takes before Hughes arrives. No chance he lands an NHL contract next year.

You say that but it's said about players every season that seem to get contracts and chances around the league.

only time will tell, but hes now the worst defenseman, on one of the worst defensive teams in the league. I imagine he signs a two-way somewhere and starts in the AHL, or goes and plays in Europe. The guy sucks at hockey.

I find it hard to believe every single person in the org will miss that detail. I’m sure Brackett knows

Thank you all!

Both in my music and sports jobs, my main goal has been to be accepted as an equal, where gender is largely irrelevant. I also aim to be a woman who supports other women as representation in both industries slowly increases.

Support from men is important, too. Thanks to Ek for giving me this opportunity, and to you all for hanging out and reading my ramblings for the past six seasons!
